Four former NTID students- could be changing the way we communicate with the deaf and hard of hearing. They have developed software for tablets — that can interpret sign language – and translate it into English text. They have teamed up with a California company that makes motion sensor technology – and formed “MotionSavvy.” Their prototype understands about 100 words – and is now in the testing phase. The tablet, sensor, and software would cost around $600- and could be on the market by next Fall.
